Yesterday I had a conversation on my phone with a dear friend that was a colleague in Switzerland when we were telling people about Jesus. She sent a couple of Bible verses that were great for me.
The first one was Psalms 25:4-5. “Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” Psalms 25:4-5 NLT
The second one was, “The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalms 32:8 NLT
Then when we went to church yesterday the speaker spoke about Mark 9:14-29 where there was a young boy who had an awful spirit and had no voice, throws him on the ground, grinds his teeth and becomes rigid multiple times. The disciples couldn’t heal him. Jesus told the father that “anything is possible if a person believes”. Jesus healed the boy. When the disciples asked him “Why couldn’t we heal him?” Jesus answered, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer”. I’ve had a lot of people praying for me, but that is God’s plan for me, and I have to look up to Job for my life.
I also read an article about Job. He was devastated for a few days by Satan and he never discussed with his friends about how God was dreadful. Then he got awesome gifts from God.
There is a coordination between these scriptures. That is a designation about God that is a song that Merle Haggard wrote: “Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus, and tomorrow may never be mine. One day at a time…” “All day long I put my hope in you”. I have been trying to listen to God for a year now. He does something that encourages me in a good way. He also does something that discourages me from physically being how I was before my voice and my body were going down. Then I got those verses from a friend of mine.
“Show me the right path; point out the road for me to follow”…I’ve been locked up here for months because I’m not what I have been all of my life. I was always playing sports, physical durability, and capability. We settled down in Africa and the Middle East where God shined for me. Kate asks questions each week about where I’m going and I say, “I don’t want to go any place because of my drooling, choking, weak muscles, driving, and my voice. We go to Uncle Tom’s house each week because he is 91 and he has all sorts of physical disabilities. He is teaching me how to drool, and several other things as I get older. We watch sports and get a lunch.
“I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” That is two verses that I am putting in my head. Next year we are going to Kenya for six weeks. I will hear the Lord then and obey him because of the best pathway of my life, and He will advise me and watch over me.
