“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 NLT
But God never calls you to a chore or duty without giving you what you need to do it.
They are the abilities God gives you to do the work he has assigned to you. Your talents may not look like another person’s capabilities, but they come from the same Spirit and serve the same Lord. I got a text from a friend a few days ago. He was asking me to pray for him because he was going to his home country where he married a woman. That is 8000 miles from here. He got a divorce from her and he was going to see the brothers. I prayed for him and asking God to give him God’s voice when he met with the brothers. I don’t know what happened but I’m sure that God will find some peace for him.
If you read the verses 8 – 11 you will see the the Holy Spirit gives different gifts to Christian’s. With my physical disabilities the Master has taken some gifts away from me and given me some other gifts. I used to talk in multiple churches but I can’t do that now. I had spoken different languages while on the field but now I’m just reading them.I am writing now-a-days, but my brain is getting a little complicated. The Holy Spirit is the one who decides what my gifts will be now.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2 NLT
God is transforming me into a new person. I’m not sure about what he is doing but I know he is changing the way I think. He has gotten me into drooling, which I am slobbering as I write this. That makes me wonder what he is doing to me. Another thing is when I work out everyday I am so fatigued that I need to lay down and get some rest. I can’t play sports anymore – but I will watch sports on TV. I am in a learning phase for God’s will for me – which is good and pleasing and perfect.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 NLT.
And your spiritual gifts are the tools he gives you to do what he asks of you. I’m contemplating how God causes everything to work together for the good. How do you learn to live in God’s love so you can lead without being ruled by despair and anxiety and fear?
