Not Quite Finished

“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness. Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear, and noses but cannot smell. They have hands but cannot feel, and feet but cannot walk, and throats but cannot make a sound. All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield. The Lord remembers us and will bless us.”

Psalms 115:1, 3, 5-7, 11-12 NLT

When I read Psalms 115 it plummeted me into a gathering which I had never been before. Mouths that cannot speak, eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear, noses that cannot smell, hands that cannot feel, feet that cannot walk, and throats can cannot make a sound. I have only two of them, but as I get older I’m wondering if I will have some of the other things that the Master will give me. The thing that is great about this is that HIS name gets all the glory for his unfailing love and faithfulness. I know different people that cannot walk, people who are blind, and people whose ears are silent. They function just fine with the savior. But I am at the point where I am trying to communicate with the Master and see what he has for me as I get disabled further.  

My Master is in the heavens and he does as he wishes. I will meet him some day but I’m trying to bring him glory on this earth. But I don’t rightly know how. We have been in the Keys for a couple of weeks. Stayed at two houses. Visited friends. Spent time with family. All this and I’m trying to put myself into doing things for them. I’m very limited to what I can do as I’m 75 years old, but we just visited friends who are 87 years old and they seem to function amazingly. They were a fantastic example for me and my wife. Some of the things I did for my friends and family: drove for my wife, took the trash out, searched for lobsters, took them out for dinner, prepared the hose for the boat when it was in, bike rides with my wife, cleaned the first house we were in, etc. Was that honoring God?

I fear the Lord. He was magnificent in the years we spent overseas. I trust him more that any person here on the earth. He is my helper and my safeguard. I know that he is paying attention to me. I’m on the Master’s mind now. He is typing my words. His blessings are everyday. My blundering makes me frustrated but that doesn’t keep my friends or my family (except my wife – who sees more than any other person) from noticing when I’m drooling, or eating slowing, or typing on my phone, or choking while swallowing. I am thankful for that. So, I have to determine what is humbling myself under the mighty power of God. He cares about me and he sees me every day, so the Master of the universe isn’t surprised by any of the things I do as I get older. It’s His plan…

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
