I realized today that it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything. My wife and I have been quite busy trying to move into this new year. Tax forms to fill out, new credit cards that mean changes everywhere, trying to update and change my website (with a lot of help from WordPress), getting enrolled in Medicare programs – which is still not completed, researching and making plans for the summer in Europe, and of course, doctor’s appointments. Ugh.
And this is supposedly what “retirement” looks like. After two plus years of this I’m absolutely ready to take on another assignment. Maybe not a full-time 50 hours a week job, but something that can over stimulate my brain so I’m not always thinking about most of the above. I am very grateful that we waited until I was in my 70s to “re-position”, yet I’m already bored with this new position. And yes, we have been doing a lot of conversing with people who have projects going on, or assignments that are available, or some sort of volunteering to consider. I’ve even considered taking on writing another book or two, but after my first one I’m not sure I have the mental stamina to accomplish that.
My wife is staying overly busy with paperwork (why did we not have so much before we came to the States?), making reservations for our summer excursion, and visits to the grandkids in Georgia. I, on the other hand, seem to be buried in menial tasks that never seem to end. While talking with a close friend this past week I was offered a position that would keep me deeply involved with missions. There are two speed bumps though – I would be living in the States and we would have to move to another city. We are asking the Spirit to guide us as we consider the proposition (it is a ground floor, start from scratch, kind of offer) and if that is where God wants us now. If you are reading this you can join us in prayer about it.
I’m not sure this post will go out to everyone on our prayer warriors list (one of the things I’ve been working on with my website), but this is somewhat of a test to see if that part is working. If not, I will make sure it gets to everyone in the next week. I’m also making a commitment to being more “regular” about writing – hopefully.
